Part of a downtown Milwaukee office building would be converted into an events venue under a new plan pending before city officials.

The venue for weddings and other events would be on the first floor of a four-story office building at 804 N. Milwaukee St.

That's according to a building permit application for commercial renovations filed with the city Department of Neighborhood Services.

The application was filed on behalf of K&C Event Planning LLC.

The company's registered agent, Kulbir Sra, told the Journal Sentinel Monday that it was too early to provide a projected opening date and more information.

"We're just starting the process," Sra said.

The venue would need a city tavern license, among other approvals.

The building's listing at LoopNet.com says it has 5,000 square feet available for lease on the first floor.

Venues for weddings and other gatherings continue to proliferate throughout the Milwaukee area.

In July, plans were filed with the Milwaukee Board of Zoning Appeals to convert part of a redeveloping historic building, at 2202-2210 W. Clybourn St., into a venue.

The operator would be Bella M & C LLC, led by Marta Bianchini and Claiborne Marshall.

Bianchini and Marshall also operate The Mitch, an events venue they opened in 2021 at 1104 W. Historic Mitchell St.

Also, the Urban Ecology Center wants to convert its warehouse, at 1500 E. Park Place, into Riverland Event Hall.

A series of historic Milwaukee-area buildings that have been converted into events venues since 2020. 

Along with The Mitch, they include: St. James 1868, 833 W. Wisconsin Ave.; River Valley Historic Venue, 422 N.15th St.; The George and Madcap Lounge, 429 W. National Ave.; The Gage, 1139 S. 70th St., West Allis, and Dresden Castle on Underwood, 3775 E. Underwood Ave., Cudahy.

The 804 N. Milwaukee St. building was constructed in 1984 and sold in 2016 to 700 North Water Tower LLC.

That Brookfield-based group's registered agent is Bachan Singh, who operates dozens of gas stations and convenience stores and other properties.
