A new wine bar is set to open in Margate, if plans are approved. The Turner Contemporary Gallery has submitted plans to take over the ground floor of 238 Northdown Road, where S.T Jewellers used to be.

If successful, the bar would join the Margate strip, which includes Banks Ale & Wine House and Bellevue Tavern. The 750-foot plot would have bar for drinking and dining; and a more formal seating area for diners with the choice of booth seating.

Plans for the bar include an open kitchen fitted with a Harrison oven and indoor BBQ. The developers want to built a container on the side return of the building to act as a prepare area and pot wash station.

Turner also want to turn the building into a shop, though their application doesn't specify what they would sell. The site was previously a jewellery shop but is now sat empty with no tenant and no use.

The proposed opening hours Monday to Friday would be from 12pm until 11pm, closing at 11.30pmon Saturdays and earlier on Sundays and bank holidays at 10pm.
